Factory matched pair of M930 microphones feature precise laser etched angle markers and comes equipped with ORTF stand adaptor, clips and large deluxe wood case. Satin nickel finish
The M 930 and M 940 studio condenser microphones combine modern large diaphragm capsule technology with the latest in semiconductor circuit topology. They are specifically designed to meet the needs of professional and semi-professional users who demand the highest performance. The M 930 and M 940 are ideally suited for universal miking applications in broadcast and sound studios. Their very favorable pricing also makes them attractive for project studios. Applications include vocalists, announcers, dialog pickup and as a spot microphones for recording guitars, keyboard, percussion, wind and string instruments.
The pick-up pattern is perpendicular to the direction of the microphone axis ( side addressed ). The model number and pick-up pattern symbol mark the front of the microphone.
The condenser capsule exhibits a smooth frequency response with a slight presence boost in the 7 to 11 kHz range. The polar response exhibits an exceptionally high degree of rejection for sounds impinging from the rear ( cardioid ) or sides ( super-cardioid ) of the microphone. The electronic impedance converter uses a newly perfected cicuit topology. This design reduces the noise floor to an extremely low level while also raising the maximum output capability. As a result, these microphones have a clean, distortion free sound over an extremely wide dynamic range. RFI susceptibility is very low.
The microphone capsule and electronics are elastically suspended inside the compact metal housing. This reduces the sensitivity to mechanical impact and structure born noise. The microphone stand holder MH 93.1 can be exchanged for an elastic suspension EH 93 to further attenuate noise in extreme situations. The M 930 and M 940 connect to the microphone cable with a standard 3-pin XLR plug. Powering must be provided by an external 48 V phantom supply according to DIN 45596 and IEC 268-15. The microphones are finished in either a matte nickel or dark bronze color.

I
received a demo pair of Gefell M930's with the ORTF bar recently for use
primarily in classical recording. The results so far have been fantastic, so
good that I kept them and asked for the bill.
I am a freelance recording engineer/producer working
primarily in classical, although I do some different styles as well from time to
time. I regularly produce local (and occasionally national) National Public
Radio broadcasts of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and Connecticut Opera
performances, and over the years have produced and engineered hundreds of
independent releases in various styles -- classical, folk, rock/pop, jazz,
spoken word, and "world".
As a main orchestral pair they were exactly what I
was looking for; beautiful string sound, perfect imaging and the mono
compatibility necessary for NPR broadcasts. They are a nice complement to the
Schoep omni flanks I have been using for a while now. I had been looking for a
high quality stereo mic but the only ones that sounded good to me were
outrageously expensive, and I prefer to use either spaced pairs or
near-coincidental over coincidental single-point configurations anyway so this
fit the bill there as well.
I'm thrilled that the results have been even better
than I had imagined. Great microphones! So far I've used them as an ORTF on
orchestra and chorus, individually on pop-style vocals, and as spot microphones
on acoustic guitars and a trumpet -- all sounded absolutely fantastic. In the
three weeks I've owned them, they have become the favorite mics in my collection
-- even edging out my TLM170 for vocals!
In addition to my professional work, I am Director
of the Music Production and Technology degree program at The Hartt School,
University of Hartford and I am a visiting lecturer in Sound Design at the Yale
School of Drama. I brought them into the University to use in a mic demo/lecture
and the students were not only very impressed but many plan to pick up one or
two for themselves.
The mics are tremendous. I'm sure this won't be my
last Gefell purchase.
