RoomPacks - the foundation of MIRVienna Symphonic Library's MIR RoomPack 3 is an add-on expander for VSL's multi-impulse response convolution engine MIR. According to the ambience chasers at Vienna Symphonic Library, RoomPacks are "the crown jewels of Vienna MIR." Boasting thousands of individual impulse responses from a single venue, RoomPacks are the foundation upon which the MIR concept is built. Of course, MIR's Room Editor lets you dial in the decay length you need for the application at hand.

Maria StrassengelVienna Symphonic Library's MIR RoomPack 3 is your source for astonishingly tasty short reverbs - courtesy of the pilgrimage church Maria Strassengel near Graz in Styria, Austria. This church's relatively compact main nave serves up amazing acoustics, rich and stunningly short - averaging around three seconds. Using four mics from multiple positions, over 2,000 impulse responses were captured to replicate the beautiful acoustics of this incredible location.

SteinhofkircheAt the other end of the reverb-time scale, Vienna Symphonic Library's MIR RoomPack 3 gives you the Steinhofkirche. In terms of ambience, you can think of Steinhofkirche as the "Viennese Taj Mahal," due to its long - up to around ten seconds - decay time. The jaw dropper here is the astonishing clarity of the reverb. VSL captured impulses from every conceivable position in the hall. You also get "HotSpots" - two positions each on the left and right side aisles, one position in the rear at the main entrance, and the entire balcony of the organ gallery. So, essentially, you can use the Steinhofkriche from both sides of the main microphones - letting you stage a bone fide surround ensemble!
